Recap: Who won the 2025 Miami Grand Prix?

Last year’s Miami Grand Prix saw Oscar Piastri claim victory after a breathless race full of drama. On lap 14, the Australian took the lead from polesitter Max Verstappen and never looked back, securing his third consecutive win of the season.

Piastri’s McLaren teammate Lando Norris lost five places almost immediately after lights out, but fought back impressively to finish second. George Russell completed the podium, leaving Verstappen in fourth.

What to expect from the 2026 Miami Grand Prix

The 2026 season is just three races old and is already shaping up to be a classic. Mercedes have asserted early dominance, winning all three races, with two wins for Kimi Antonelli and one for George Russell. Ferrari have also shown consistency, featuring on the podium in each of the three opening races.

This season’s shorter and lighter cars are designed to place greater emphasis on driver skill and racecraft, with closer battles and more unpredictable overtaking. This is already translating into more action as the Australian Grand Prix alone saw around 120 overtakes – more than double last year’s figure. However, the racing has proved a little divisive, with some drivers and fans questioning whether the new energy-driven battles feel too chaotic or artificial.

While the full effects are still unfolding, the changes are expected to make the sport more exciting to watch – something that could be on full display at the high-speed Hard Rock Stadium Circuit.

Predictions are always speculative, but another Mercedes victory looks plausible, with Kimi Antonelli a strong contender to walk away with a third consecutive victory. Yet a Ferrari win shouldn’t be overlooked after their promising start. Naturally, the new US-based team Cadillac will also be one to watch, eager to impress in front of a lively home crowd.

With a competitive field, a home team and an entertaining circuit, the 2026 Miami Grand Prix promises to be another unpredictable chapter in this year’s championship.

What to pack and what to wear at the Miami Grand Prix?

It’s sensible to wear cool clothing that protects you from the sun, while comfortable shoes are also essential – a visit to the Hard Rock Stadium Circuit involves a lot of walking.

If you’re enjoying the Miami Grand Prix from a hospitality suite, opt for smart-casual dress. For example, smart jeans and tailored shorts are suitable, as are sundresses and jumpsuits.
